Meaning in English of Prayer to Bhagwan Jagannath
O Shri Jagannath Swami, I neither beseech you for a kingdom nor for the wealth of precious gems and jewels. I do not seek a charming and attractive spouse who is sought after by others. I pray that Bhagwan Jagannath whose acts and deeds are sung even by Shiva (the Lord of the Pramaths) at every moment should be the focal point of my vision and enlighten my material and spiritual journey.
हे श्री जगन्नाथ स्वामी, मैं आपसे न तो राज्य की याचना करता हूँ और न ही बहुमूल्य रत्नों रूपी सम्पदा की। मैं किसी ऐसे आकर्षक एवं मनमोहक जीवनसाथी के लिए भी याचना नहीं करता, जिसकी चाहत दूसरों को है। मैं प्रार्थना करता हूँ कि भगवान जगन्नाथ, जिनके चरित्र का गुणगान स्वयं शिवजी (प्रमथों के भगवान) भी हर पल करते हैं, मेरी दृष्टि का केन्द्र बिन्दु बनें और मेरे भौतिक और आध्यात्मिक जीवन की यात्रा में मेरा मार्गदर्शन करें|
