Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5th September every year in India to recognise the invaluable contribution that teachers and gurus make in nation building in honour of the first Vice-President and second President of independent India – Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Sanskrit Wishes for Teachers’ Day

Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888 and was himself a distinguished academic. It is said that once when his students asked him if they could celebrate his birthday, he declined but recommended that the day should be dedicated to all teachers. In line with his suggestion, 5th September has been observed as Teachers’ Day since 1962.
