Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi or Mawlid (referred to as Barawafat – बारावफ़ात in India) commemorates the birth of Hazrat Muhammad Saheb or Prophet Muhammad. He is regarded as the last Nabi (Prophet) in Islam and is also referred to as the Rasul Allah (the Messenger of God). It is a festival that affirms love, faith and reverence towards Allah and the Prophet. It is marked differently by Shias and Sunnis.
