Happy Holi: Sanskrit, Hindi and English Greetings for the Festival of Colours

Holi (होली) is celebrated during the spring season  (basanta ritu – वसन्त ऋतु) in India. It is an ancient festival and is also known as Vasantotsava or Phalguni or Phalgunotsava. As the beautiful land of Bharat dons a riot of colours, people cut across all barriers to indulge in merrymaking, singing, dancing and playing with colours (Holi was traditionally played with eco-friendly, natura colours made from flowers). The day reserved for playing colours is generally preceded by the Holika Dehan or the burning of the Holi fire on the night before.

Team Cultural Samvaad has put together some greetings in Sanskrit (shlokas), Hindi and English to wish your loved ones a Happy Holi!
