I ask forgiveness for all living beings, May all living beings grant me forgiveness. My friendship is with all living beings, My enmity is totally non-existent. Please forgive me for all my bad deeds.
भारत की प्राचीन परम्परा के अनुसार पर्व केवल हर्षोल्लास का समय नहीं होते| प्रत्येक पर्व के पीछे एक आध्यात्मिक सन्देश होता है और वह हमें चिंतन करने के लिए प्रेरित करता है| शायद यही कारण है कि भारत की इस पुण्यभूमि पर एक विशेष दिवस ऐसा भी जो क्षमा मांगने के लिए निर्धारित किया गया है|
जैन संप्रदाय द्वारा मनाये जाने वाले पर्युषण महापर्व के अंतिम दिन – संवत्सरी को मिच्छामि दुक्कडम् कह क्षमा प्रार्थना की जाती है। क्षमा केवल उन शब्दों और कार्यों के लिए नहीं मांगी जाती है जो हमारी समझ में दूसरों के नुकसान या दर्द का कारण बने हैं, बल्कि उन शब्दों और कार्यों के लिए भी मांगी जाती है जिनसे हम अनजाने में दूसरों को नुकसान या दर्द पहुँचाते हैं| यह पवित्र क्षमा याचना केवल परिवार, मित्रों एवं मानव जाति से ही नहीं वरन सभी जीवित प्राणियों से की जाती है। यही भारतीय संस्कृति का सौन्दर्य है|
In India, festivals are not just a time for celebration but for reflection and spiritual rejuvenation. And that is the reason why the land has a special day reserved for seeking forgiveness. Forgiveness is sought on the last day of the Jain festival of Paryushana which is referred to as Samvatsari. Forgiveness is sought not just for words and deeds that knowingly cause harm or pain but also for those that have unknowingly caused harm or pain. Forgiveness is sought not just from family and friends and other human beings but all living beings.
