May the blessed festival of Eid-ul-Fitr usher in peace, prosperity and health for one and all!
May the sweetness of sevaiyan fill our lives.
Eid-ul-Fitr or Eid-al-Fitr is celebrated on the last day of the holy month of Ramzaan after a month of ritual fasting. In India, namaaz is offered at large, decked-up idgahs and mosques across the country. People give zakaat (make charitable donations) and greet each other with the customary Eid Mubarak. All communities join their Muslim sisters and brothers in the festivities and partaking innumerable delicacies including the special sevayyain which is a signature dessert made of fine, toasted sweet vermicelli noodles that are cooked in ghee, milk and dry fruits.
Cultural Samvaad is a platform to understand, appreciate and discuss the multi-hued fabric of India's rich and plural culture, her vast heritage, her infinite wisdom and her indomitable spirit.
