पिता की सेवा करने अथवा उनकी आज्ञा का पालन करने से बढ़कर, इस संसार में कोई दूसरा धर्म नहीं है|
There is no greater observance of righteousness (Dharma) than serving one’s father or carrying out his orders.
– Valmiki Ramayana : 2.19.22
Read Sanskrit Shlokas and Quotes on Fathers!
In the Indian tradition, the father has an exalted status. Respecting and serving one’s parents (both mother and father) and one’s teachers (gurus) is an essential virtue. The Ramayana which is also referred to as a Dharmashastra, extols this virtue in a manner like few pieces of secular or religious literature can. On Father’s Day and every other day, it is important to reflect on fulfilling one’s duty towards one’s father.
