Shivaji Maharaj - Bhushan Hindi Poem

साजि चतुरंग वीर रंग में तुरंग चढ़ि,

सरजा सिवाजी जंग जीतन चलत हैं

‘भूषण’ भनत नाद विहद नगारन के,

नदी नद मद गैबरन के रलत है ।

भावार्थ 

छत्रपति शिवाजी घोड़े पर सवार हो कर अपनी वीर और कुशल चतुरंगिणी सेना के साथ युद्ध के लिए निकल पड़े हैं। चारों तरफ नगाड़ों की आवाज़ गूंज रही| ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा है कि मतवाले हाथियों के मद से नदियाँ बह रहीं हैं।

Essence

Chhatrapati Shivaji has mounted his horse and is leading his brave, skilled and multifaceted army from the front. The sound of drums are heralding the onset of war. The boundless energy of the charged-up elephants is flowing like rivers in all directions.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja was born on 19 February 1630 at the hill-fort of Shivneri, near the city of Junnar, which is now in Pune district Maharashtra. 19th February is commemorated as Shivaji Jayanti. He passed away on 3 April 1680.

The above lines are extracted from Shiva-Baavani which is a Hindi kavya (long poem) composed by Kaviraja Bhushan. It describes the exploits of the brave Maratha ruler and nationalist – Shivaji Maharaja.
