Earth Day – Sanskrit Quotes & Shlokas

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd of every year. In Indian tradition, the entire Prithvi (पृथ्वी) or Earth is akin to our mother and is revered as a Goddess, a Devi (भूदेवी) who belongs to everyone – all living beings – all flora and fauna. Many Indians begin their day with a prayer to her even today. That we beseech her to nourish us, but still continue to plunder her, is perhaps the greatest tragedies of our times.

Team Cultural Samvaad has curated shlokas and quotes in Sanskrit that remind us of our duty towards mother earth.

Earth Day Sanskrit Shloka from Yajurveda - Protect the Earth.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम्

Earth Day - Morning Prayer - समुद्रवसने देवि

Sanskrit Shloka from the Vedas - Do not plunder mother earth

Earth Day माता भूमिः पुत्रो अहं पृथिव्याः|| अथर्ववेद – १२.१.१२
