The Guru is accorded a status higher than the divine in the Indic tradition for it believed that one can only experience grace by travelling on the path shown by the Guru. Traditionally the full moon day of the month of Ashaada (June-July) is celebrated as Guru Poornima.

भारतीय संस्कृति में गुरु को ईश्वर से भी ऊँचा स्थान प्रदान किया गया है| हमारी मान्यता के अनुसार, परब्रह्म के अनुग्रह की प्राप्ति गुरु द्वारा दिखाए गये मार्ग पर चल कर ही होती है| आषाढ़ मास की पूर्णिमा को गुरु पूर्णिमा के रूप में मनाया जाता है|
