Radha Ashtami (राधा अष्टमी) is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Radharani, the eternal companion of Krishna. It falls in the month of Bhadrapada (September – October) on the asthami (eighth day) of Shukla paksha bright fortnight). Even though Radhaji made a comparatively late appearance in textual literature, she is considered as the embodiment of divine love and for bhaktas, she and Krishna are but one. Radha is Krishna and Krishna is Radha.
