World Sparrow Day is celebrated every year on 20th March to help Save the Sparrow.

Their chirping is a part of our daily lives… the presence of sparrows makes a home sound like a home. As per the State of India’s Birds Report, 2020 while the overall sparrow population in the country is stable, it has been gradually declining in the 6 metros. The last few years have witnessed some focus on bringing the birds back to our homes…it is important that while they have been classified as ‘Low Conservation Concern’, the urban centres continue their efforts to this effect.

उनकी चहचहाहट से हमारे घर-आँगन सदैव गुंजायमान रहते हैं| गौरैया हमारे दैनिक जीवन का एक अभिन्न अंग हैं| भारत के पक्षियों की स्थिति, 2020 के अनुसार हालांकि देश में गौरैया की कुल आबादी स्थिर है, तब भी धीरे-धीरे 6 महानगरों में उनकी आबादी घट रही है। विगत कुछ वर्षों में गौरैया को हमारे घरों के कुछ प्रयास किए गए हैं| यह आवश्यक है कि यद्यपि रिपोर्ट द्वारा उनके संरक्षण की स्थिति खास चिंताजनक नहीं बताई गयी है, तब भी शहरों में हम प्यारी सी इस चिड़िया को अपने घरों में वापस लाने के प्रयास को जारी रखें ।

विश्व गौरैया दिवस हर वर्ष २० मार्च को मनाया जाता है|
