शुभ धनतेरस! Happy Dhanteras! Shubh Dhantrayodashi!

Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi is generally the first day of the grandest festival of India – Diwali or Deepavali. It is the day when the first diya or deepak or Diwali lamp is lit and the day when people worship Dhanvantari – the presiding deity of Ayurveda and doctors as it is believed that he appeared from the samudra manthan on this day with a pot of nectar or amrit in his hands. The day is also observed as Dhanvantari Jayanti (धन्वन्तरि जयन्ती). Maa Lakshmi and Kubera are invoked for prosperity and abundance.
