The Mahalakshmi Ashtakam (श्री महालक्ष्म्यष्टकम्) is a popular stotra in Sanskrit that is used to worship Devi Lakshmi (also spelt Laxmi) every day and on special festivals devoted to her including Diwali or Deepawali and Varalakshmi Vrata. It is traditionally attributed to Devaraja Indra. In this piece, we have included the shlokas in Sanskrit with meanings in Hindi and English. Each of the eight primary shlokas (ashta implies eight) is also accompanied by an image with the text and exquisite representations of Mata Mahalakshmi in Indian art. Please note that there may be some minor variations in the Sanskrit shlokas across multiple sources.
