Sharad Purnima or Kojagari Poornima (autumnal full moon that generally falls in October) is one of the most beautiful nights across many parts of India. The monsoons have retreated, the winter fog has not set in and the ethereal moonlight is calming, almost magical on this auspicious day which is celebrated variously across Bharat.
It is Lokhi Puja for the Bengalis as they worship the great Laxmi or Lokhi. Devi Lakshmi is also worshipped by devotees across many other parts of the country. This is also the night when Krishna and the gopis are said to have engaged in eternal leela in Vrindavan. It is also commemorated as Valmiki Jayanti and Meerabai Jayanti.
Shubh Sharad Purnima. Shubh Kojagari Purnima. Shubh Lokhi Puja.
