International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 across the world. Officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977, the choice  of the day – March 8 is strongly linked to the women’s movements during the Russian Revolution (1917). It celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and is a reminder to accelerate the movement for gender equality. Traditionally, Navratri, a Hindu festival that honours the Devi or Shakti or Divine Feminine is a time for celebrating the feminine in India.

Team Cultural Samvaad has curated Sanskrit shlokas and quotes that speak of the untold importance of women for Women’s Day and every other day. We wish every woman the power to achieve her dreams.
